Rally of “Calling on American Congress to urge Chinese government to improve human rights” before the Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

On Nov. 16, 2010 at 12:30 pm, China Democracy Party gathered more than 90 members to hold a rally in front of the Capitol Hill in Washington D.C in spite of the rain. The rally was to call on the American government to pay attention to improve human rights China, and Mr. Wang,Jun, chairman of China Democracy Party and proprietor of China Democracy Journal made important speech at the rally.
America is a federalism country, the Congress has legislative authority, the President has veto power over bills passed by the Congress, the Congress also has veto power over the President on certain conditions; the President has power to appoint high level officials, but appointments have to be approved by Congress. American Congress is divided into the House of Representatives and the Senate. Congressmen are divided into senators and members of House of Representatives, whom are elected by voters. Governors, councilors, judges in some states, and important administrative officials are all elected by voters.
For China that owns 1.3 billion people, the human rights conditions are terrible, and are not improving but deteriorating. Chinese people have no power to elect government, and have no power to select government officials; therefore, Chinese government is a government with no respect for human rights, this government can’t establish a legal system that guarantees human rights, can’t establish a judicial system that defend human rights, and can’t let people enjoy freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association. That’s the main reason why human rights in China haven’t improved for a long time.
On Nov 9, 2010, American Congress and administrative department of Chinese committee held a hearing in Washington D.C., and discussed the future of China’s political reform and human rights. Mr. Byron. Dorgan, chairman of the American Congress and administrative department of Chinese committee, and North Dakota CDP Senator hosted the hearing, he stated: “I hope Chinese government and officials understand voices from the world, from America, from our conference room, that is: if China continues imprison dissidents like Mr. Liu, notions of democracy and freedom have nowhere to speak of. We call for the release of Mr. Liu, thus Chinese government can show its promise of ruling the country by law and abiding by international human rights principles through action.” Representatives who attended the hearing all feel China needs political reform, and support for China’s political reform from international society is very productive.

We strongly require to immediately releasing imprisoned CDP members and dissidents, people who maintain their legal rights, and religious people.

Mr. Wang,Jun, chairman of China Democracy Party and proprietor of China Democracy Journal pointed out at the rally, that it’s imperative to execute democratic political reform and improve human rights in China. Chinese government comes up with the idea of establishing a harmonious society, and with the economic development and improvements of social civilization, a harmonious society has to be established which is demanded by progress of the times. Chinese government has to abandon violation of human rights based on improving quality of the whole nation; respect human rights and improve human rights on the basis of respecting people’s basic human rights.
Wang,Jun said, today CDP members gather here in front of the Capitol Hill to hold a rally of “Calling on the American government to urge Chinese government to improve human rights conditions”, calling on the American Congress and international community not only to concern progress of human rights in China, but also to urge the political reform of Chinese government and execute multi-party democratic constitutionalism.
