Chen, Wei(陈卫)’s brief biography
Chen, Wei was born in Suining of Sichuan in 1969, male, a student of University of Science and Engineering in Beijing originally.
He was the leader of students of universities of Science and Engineering during the democratic movement of “June 4” in 1989, and then he was restrained for one year.
In 1993, he was sentenced of five years with the teacher Mr. Hu, Shigen of Beijing Language and Culture University and so on. After releasing, he insisted to promote Chinese democratic reform and devoted himself to the work of protecting rights. Recently, he participated in the movements of protecting rights actively, helped vulnerable groups to preserve rights and chase justice. He was courtesy and honest, and he had sympathy on vulnerable groups in the society, proposed peaceful and nonviolent means and focused the effort to transform China stably in terms of citizen’s society construction.
In Feb 20, 2011, at the day of the news of the rally of “Jasmine Revolution” spread through the Internet hotly, he was arrested by policemen in Suining, and then he got a criminal detention with the suspicion of “subvert the state power”.
In March 28, 2011, he was arrested formally and put into the house of detention at present.

陈 卫小传
1969年出生于四川省遂宁市，陈卫，男，原北京理工大学学生。
1989年“六四”民主运动期间是理工大学学生领袖，后被关押一年。
1993年又与北京语言大学教师胡石根先生等被以反革命罪判刑五年。出来后坚持推进中国的民主改革，致力于维权工作。近年来积极参与民间维权，帮助弱势被侵权群体维护权利、伸张正义。他为人忠厚、坦诚，对社会弱势群体极具同情心，主张通过和平理性与非暴力路径，着眼于从公民社会建设上来稳步改造中国。
2011年2月20日，在中国网传茉莉花集会散步当天被遂宁国保带走，并随后被以涉嫌“煽动颠覆国家政权罪”刑事拘留。
2011年3月28日下午被正式逮捕。现被关押于遂宁市看守所中。
