Xi Chen, whose autonym is Youcai Chen, male, Han nationality, native place is Yulin city of Guangxi province, a Christian, was born in Guiyang, Guizhou on February 29, 1954.
He graduated from Guizhou Normal University in the June of 1970, and worked at Guizhou Axletree Factory after graduation.
In October, 1972, he served in the army, and joined China Communist Party.
In 1977, he was transferred to work at Guizhou Axletree Factory.
In 1984, he was transferred to work at the insurance office of Jinzhu College of Guiyang, and got a three-year-term degree in foreign language through self-study.
In 1985, he took part in several folk salon activities like “Wave Reading Club” and “English corner”, etc.
In 1987, he organized and established Salon Friendship Association of Guiyang City, and was democratically elected as first president o f the salon friendship association.
In 1989, he was sentenced to three years and deprived of his political right for three years, due to a charge of organizing Salon Friendship Association and establishing Patriotism and Democracy Federation.
In the June of 1990, he was expelled from the party by the school party committee of Jinzhu College, and was dismissed from his job in the August of that year.
In June, 1992, he was released from prison, and then he established Guizhou Totem Science and Technology Industry Co., Ltd, and acted as the chairman of the company.
In the May of 1995, he organized China Democracy Party of Guizhou branch, and stated that democratic movements in Guizhou must be in the lead, and dare to be the first. He lit the first democratic flame in Guizhou, and demands the authority to redress “June Forth Movement”. Finally, he was arrested.
In March, 1996, he was sentenced to 10 years and deprived of his political right for 5 years by the Intermediate People’s Court of Guiyang city, owing to an accusation of “organizing and leading counter-revolutionary group”. During the service of his sentence in Guiyang prison, the jailor abetted criminal offenders to beat up him, but he never gave in.
He pursued the construction of democracy, human rights, and rule of law after being released from jail in the May of 2005. With other Guizhou dissidents, he held Guizhou Citizens’ International Human Rights Seminar.

陈西，本名陈友才，男，汉族，籍贯：广西玉林，基督徒。1954年2月29日生于贵州贵阳。
1970年6月：毕业于贵阳师范学校。年底进入贵阳轴承厂当工人。
1972年10月：当兵，在这期间加入了中共。
1977年：转业回贵阳轴承厂。
1984年：调贵阳金筑大学政保处工作，自学获得了外语大专文凭。
1985年：参加“浪潮读书会”“英语角”等民间沙龙活动。
1987年：组织成立《贵阳市沙龙联谊会》，民主选举任第一届沙龙联谊会会长。
1989年：“学潮”期间，因组织《沙龙联谊会》，成立“爱国民主联合会”而被判3年，剥夺政治权利3年。
1990年6月：被金筑大学校党委开除除党，同年8月开除工作籍。
1992年6月：出狱，创建《贵州图腾科技实业公司》，任董事长。
1995年5月：因组织《中国民主党贵州分部》，提出了贵州的民主运动要走在全国的前面，要敢为人先，在贵州点燃第1把民主之火，并要求平反“6．4”而被捕。
1996年3月：被贵阳市中级人民法院以“组织、领导反革命集团罪”判刑10年，剥夺政治权利5年。在贵阳监狱服刑期间，多次被狱方唆使刑事犯毒打昏死，从未屈服。
2005年5月出狱后，继续从事民主、人权、法治建设。与贵州自由民主异议人士一起举办了《贵州首届公民国际人权研讨会》。
