Strongly Request Chinese Government to Free Mr. Liu, Benqi, a Member of China Democracy Party
——To establish a multi-party democratic constitutional system in China
At 11am on May 7, 2013, some members of China Democracy Party came to meet in front of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, strongly requesting the Chinese government to release Mr. Liu, Benqi, a member of China Democracy Party, and his wife Mrs. Liu, Ying. We strongly protest that Chinese Communist Party persecutes those China Democracy Party members and other dissidents!
We ask to establish a multi-party democratic constitutional system in China. The Chairman of China Democracy Party and Proprietor of China Democracy Journal, Mr. Wang, Jun attended the rally today, and delivered a very important speech.
Mr. Liu,Benqi, a member of China Democracy Party, was born in Hongan, Hubei Province on August 27, 1968(lunar calendar). He graduated from the Communication College belonging to the army in Chongqing, China, and his major was Communication electronic technology. After graduation, he had served in the army for seventeen years in North West border of China, devoting his most glorious time to the Chinese army. Liu, Benqi was a voluntary solider, and concentrated on communication technology work for a long term. Because Mr. Liu, Benqi is forthright and dared to speak truth, he often offended the officers in the army. After he left the army, he did not like his job and made a decision to find his own way. Since then, he moved towards a new life. However, his straightforward personality stirred up trouble beyond estimate: on July 14, 2012, after he heard people’s dissatisfactions with the Chinese government, Mr. Liu, Benqi said ``we could all go to Beijing to hold a rally during the Chinese Communist Party’s 18th conference since the constitution said that we have freedom and rights to hold rallies and demonstrations ”. His simple words made great trouble for him. From July 15, 2012, the policemen began to search for him, and arrested him on the excuse of maintaining the stability of the 18th conference. Using a citizen’s right and duty, Mr. Liu, Benqi publicly appealed to carry out citizen’s obligation and responsibility in Beijing during the 18th conference, but he was detained criminally in the name of “Inciting subversion of state power” by the Communist government＇s Procuratorate of Golmud in Qinghai. In March 2013, the Procuratorate of Golmud in Qinghai Province sued Mr. Liu, Benqi, a member of China Democracy Party, in the name of “Inciting subversion of state power”. Afterwards, in order to block the news, the Chinese government arrested Mr. Liu, Benqi’s wife Mrs. Liu,Ying for 1 year of Reeducation through Labor, while she was visiting him in the prison after ten days. We strongly protest it!
Since Mr. Liu, Benqi did not plead guilty, plus with his unyielding attitude and firm personality, he was tormented thoroughly in the Chinese Communist Party’s prison. He was cruelly oppressed and mistreated by prison guards, e.g. wearing punishment tools and suffering hungry. At the same time, the prison guards refused to accept the food, clothing and daily supplies provided by Mr. Liu, Benqi’s family members, and did not allow Mr. Liu, Benqi to meet with his attorney.

Each citizen in China is endowed such right by the Chinese constitution, and Mr. Liu, Benqi was using his own rights. He is not only not guilty, but also a responsible citizen. Therefore, we strongly request that the Chinese government immediately release Mr. Liu,Benqi, a member of China Democracy Party, and his wife Mrs. Liu, Ying.
