CDPWU Holding a Rally “Strongly Protest CCP Arresting Human Right Defending Personage Chen, Guangcheng” in New York
On Dec. 5, 2006, 11am, more than 90 members of CDPWU held a rally “Strongly Protest CCP Arresting Human Right Defending Personage Chen, Guangcheng” in front of Chinese General Consulate in New York.
Mr. Chen, Guangcheng was born in 1971 and was apprehended from home by Linyi City police on Mar. 11, 2006 because he exposed the sinister plot that Linyi authorities implemented the family planning policy and violently infringe upon women’s rights and interests.

On Aug. 18, 2006, Shandong Province Linyi City Yinan County Court opened a court session and charged Chen, Guangcheng with crimes of intentional destroying property and gathering crowds to disturb traffic, and on that day the Court didn’t adjudicate. On Aug. 24, 2006, Yinan County Court sentenced human right defending personage blindman Chen, Guangcheng to four years and three months’ imprisonment for crimes of intentional destroying property and gathering crowds to disturb traffic. On Oct. 30, 2006, Linyi City Middle Court turned down the verdict result and requested to give back to retry. On Dec. 1, 2006, Yinan County Court declared to maintain original verdict.
Several members of CDPWU made speeches in the rally to denounce China communist government illegally arresting human right defending personage Chen, Guangcheng. CDPWU thought that Chen, Guangcheng was a Chinese human right defending citizen. Only because he held on his conscience and righteousness, vindicated national legal dignity, and exposed the illegal brutal family planning behaviors of local government, he was under a house arrest for more than half year and sentenced to four years and three months’ imprisonment. This was an illegal trial, a vicious verdict, and it was a shame of the law, a shame of Chinese people. CDPWU strongly protested China communist authorities arresting human right defending personage Chen, Guangcheng for fabricated crime, and appealed Chinese government to immediately release Mr. Chen, Guangcheng and make him reunite with his family as soon as possible.
