CDPWU members rally at the China Consulate General New York, strongly demand CCP immediately release CDP member Chen, ShuQing

CDPWU called all members for donation to rescue Chen, ShuQing

At 11:00 on August 28, 2007 over 90 members from CDPWU joined rally in front of the China Consulate General New York, strongly demand the immediate release of CDP member Chen, Shuqing. All members presented joined the donation to rescue Chen, ShuQing. Chairman Wang, Jun made speech at the rally, and many members delivered their statement as well.

On September 14, 2006 renowned political dissident Mr. Chen, Shuqing was detained and arrested 3 days later on Sep. 17 on the charge of “incitement of subverting the state power”. To coordinate with the international effort to free Mr. Chen, ShuQing, CDPWU Chairman Wang, Jun led members protested in front of the China Consulate General New York, strongly demand immediate release of Mr. Chen, ShuQing. On Jan. 16, 07 CDPWU members joined donation action at the UN headquarter New York to rescue CDP member Chen, ShuQing.

On August 16, 2007, despite the international community's strong opposition,CCP forced its way to sentence Mr. Chen, ShuQing 4 years in prison on the charge of “Incitement on Subverting the state power”.

Mr. Chen, Shuqing, 43 years old, a graduate of Zhejiang University, M.Sc., he is a famous Internet writer, and members of the Preparatory Committee of CDP Zhejiang. In recent years he published on the Internet many articles promoting freedom, democracy, rule of law, and was brutally suppressed by the CCP government.

To pursue a free and democratic China, Mr. Chen, Shuqing fearlessly announced to the CCP dictatorial officials: “China belongs to the Chinese people, not private property of one party. Freedom of expression, including the freedom of political expression is not any party’s gift but people’s rights granted with birth, and cannot be deprived. When you trampled human rights, suppressed freedom of speech, and announce my prison sentence, you harvest only shame and bad reputation, while I will receive all the glory and proud.

At today's rally, Chairman Wang, Jun said that Mr. Chen, Shuqing has always advocated for democracy, freedom, peace, rational and non-violent democratic ideals; Therefore to promote social progress, fight against violence, and reign of terror. Chen, Shuqing’s actions represents the conscience and responsibility an intellectual held to the society, he has a good heart concerning his country and his fellows. He has nothing to do with "incitement to subvert state power". CDPWU strongly demand CCP to release Mr. Chen, ShuQing, end one party dictatorial rule and establish a democratic China.

Participants of the rally actively joined the donation in effort to rescue Chen, ShuQing. Many of the members has made their contribution to rescue Mr. Chen, Shuqing for many times. At 2PM several CDPWU member representatives remitted $380 donation through Western Union Flushing branch.
