CDPWU held rally “Join donation to help jail released CDP member Mao, QingXiang(毛庆祥)”

CDPWU and over 100 members held rally at the China Consulate General New York at 11 am on Sep. 25, 2007. Donations were collected to help just released from jail Mr. Mao, QingXiang; Meanwhile, strongly demands the immediate release of all detained Chinese democrats, dissidents and religious activists. Many China Democracy Party members made statement on the rally.
58-year-old Mao was arrested in 1976 in Hangzhou for participation in SiWu Movement against the dictatorial rule, and was later vindicated. He joined 1978 Democracy Wall Movement in Hangzhou and became a key member of “China National People Magazine Association”. In 1981 “China National People Magazine Association” was cracked down and Mao was sentenced for 2 years. He continued democratic movement after released from jail and became Zhejiang Province Preparatory Committee member. In June 1999 Mao, QingXiang was arrested at home, books, publications, and contacts list were confiscated. In November same year Mao, Qingxiang was sentenced for 8 years on the charge of “subversion of state power”, deprived political rights for 3 years.

On Sep. 14, 2007 Mao, Qingxiang one of the founder of CDP was realeased after serving 8 years in prison on the charge of “subverting the state power”. Mao stated that he does not regret his effort for democracy even that he was thrown in jail. His belief for democracy and freedom remains the same.
During today’s rally CDPWU members declared: Mao, Qingxiang served 8 years in prison and regain his freedom today. However more CDP members like LiHong(Zhang JianHong), Yan, Zhengxue, Chen, ShuQing, Chi, JianWei, Zhu, YuFu and Lu, Gengsong lost their freedom while pursuing the goal of freedom and democracy. They are willing to sacrifice for the cause of democracy; they are willing to devote all to the democracy and freedom of China.
In the upcoming 17th Congress and 2008 Olympics games, CDPWU Chairman Wang, Jun urged CCP government to comply with human rights conventions, immediate release of all detained Chinese democrats, dissidents and religious figures; With real actions to fulfill their promise of "democracy and the rule of law, create a harmonious society”.

Participants have extended a warm hand joining donations to help Mao, Qingxiang with five, ten dollars ... ; Many members have repeatedly donate to persecuted CDP members and their families. Here, Wang Jun, Chairman praised members for donating to help CDP members and families, and their effort in efforts to terminate CCP one party rule and establish a democratic China.
