At 11 am of Sep.1, 2009, China Democracy Party held the rally of “Firmly Support Farmers’ Rights-Defending Activity in Zhanjiang, Guangdong” in front of China Consulate-General office in New York. Strongly Protest against CCP government forcibly seize farmers’ land!” Mr. Jun Wang, chairman of China Democracy Party and China Democracy Party World Union and proprietor of 《China Democracy Journal》attended today’s rally. Mr. Jun Wang hosted today’s rally and also gave a speech and part of CDP member representatives gave speeches in the rally.
According to Radio Free Asia, thousands of farmers in Potou District, Zhanjiang city Guangdong province complained the local government, because it violated to auction more than 900 mou lands they rely on last month. Hundreds of villagers gathered together to plead the government. As a result, they suffered repression by the local police. About tens of villagers were hurt and some were persecuted and till now they were not set free. Villagers indicate that if authority didn’t solve our problems, they would appeal to Beijing.
According to reports, villagers in Menkou village, Nansan Town, Potou district, Zhanjiang city, and Guangdong province gathered to issue articles in the website, complaining some leaders in Bureau of Land and Resources and Zhanjiang Intermediate Court on colluding with Zhanjiang Guoli Real Estate Company and handling illegal certificates, illegally auctioning more than 900 mou land in Xin Menkou village. Complaint letter also indicated that on the auction day, more than one hundred villagers came to the spot to protest against. The authorities started out almost one hundred policemen, who took off the plant number on the police suite and repressed protesting farmers. Tens of farmers were hurt, five people were arrested and one was still imprisoned.

Mr. Jun Wang, chairman of China Democracy Party and China Democracy Party World Union and proprietor of 《China Democracy Journal》said in the rally:” in recent years, CCP authorities highly advocated to build up a “harmonious society” and held the flag of focusing on the central task of economic construction. They took advantage of the violence to forcibly acquisite land, relocate buildings, and seriously deter people’s basic living rights. When the disadvantageous are desperation, when their living rights are deprived, when their boundaries of endurance drop to the bottom line, their depression and anger break out, forming the chain reaction and lighting up flames. That is the rights-defending movements occurring in today’s China. The attack of such kinds of rights-defending movements directly points at CCP autocracy and openly fights. They argue on the basis of reason and the disadvantageous have never shown weakness and people’s strength burst out justice radiance.
Mr. Jun Wang pointed out that farmers’ rights-defending movements are the most obvious in different places of China. The fundamental reason why farmers fight against is that they are not willing to lose the land of living from generation to generation. The farmers’ rights-defending movements happening in Zhanjiang, Guangdong is a typical example. In recent years, although Chinese government laid down the measures so called loosening farmers’ burden, farmers’ basic human rights can’t be guaranteed. In the rural area, because the land can’t be thoroughly realized land privatization, Chinese farmers’ rights-invading problems haven’t been fundamentally solved.
Mr. Jun Wang indicated that Chinese people’s rights-defending movements would be much more intense and rights-defending movements have increased rather than decreased. China Democracy Party and China Democracy Party World Union are always standing besides Chinese people and firmly support and participate in Chinese rights-defending movements. Chinese people’s rights-defending movements play a vital part in Chinese democracy, freedom, human rights and rule-by-law.
