Rally of “Protest CCP’s Illegal Trial on the Drafter of ‘Charter 08’ Xiaobo Liu”
-------- The No.19 Series Activity of “Chinese Political Persecutor’s Rescue Propaganda Year”
11:00 AM, January 5th, 2010, more than 100 CDP members went to the outdoor of the embassy of China in New York in the chilly wind and held the No.19 series activity of “Chinese Political Persecutor’s Rescue Propaganda Year”: “Protest CCP’s Illegal Trial on the Drafter of ‘Charter 08’ Xiaobo Liu” and “Urge CCP to Release the Drafter of ‘Charter 08’ Xiaobo Liu”. Chairman of China Democracy Party and China Democracy Party World Union, publisher of “China Democracy Journal”, Mr. Jun Wang, participated in this rally and make a public speech.
At the end of 2008, to memorize the 60 years anniversary publication of “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, Xiaobo Liu, one of the 303 people from all fields of China, all together made draft and signed the declaration ---“Charter 08”. It is aimed at appealing for democracy, republication and constitutionality in the political system of China under the universal value of freedom, equality and human rights, and then promoting the democratic process of China. They had planned to hold a forum on December 10th, 2008 in memory of the 6oth anniversary of “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and announce “Charter 08” of China. However, the action is prohibited by the cruel arrestment of CCP controlled government and police system. Two of the initiators, Xiaobo Liu and Zuhua Zhang, got arrested by the government on December 8th because of their democratic actions. December 25th, 2009, the CCP controlled government using the so-called crime of “Inciting the Overturn of Government” illegally sentenced Xiaobo Liu to 11 years in prison and exploited his political rights for 2 years.
“Charter 08” is comprised of 4 parts: “Preface”, “Our Basic Faiths”, “Our Fundamental Claims” and “Conclusion”. The main purpose is to describe the concepts of freedom, human rights, democracy and constitutionality, then amend the constitution and implement the balance of divided power. Consequently, the legislation will become democratic and the judicature keeps independent. Freedom of association, rally, speech and religion is the result.

Chairman of China Democracy Party and China Democracy Party World Union, publisher of “China Democracy Journal”, Mr. Jun Wang, made a speech in the rally. He said, though the constitution of China has prescribed speech freedom to Chinese people, these items are still only the words on papers in today’s China. Chinese people have no real speech freedom. They can’t publish any opinion on government, can’t criticize the government, not even to mention reform the unreasonable social system. If anyone dares to resist them, they will attach the symbols of “Inciting Overturn of Government” or “Destroying the Steady of Society” on the person and arrest, sentence and put them in jail. Xiaobo Liu is sentenced in prison for 11 years illegally by the CCP government for the so-called crime of “Inciting Overturn of Government”, which is a typical example of their measures.
Mr. Jun Wang said, the NO.19 item of “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights” pointed out: everyone has the rights of putting up and publishing opinions freely. No 21 item also prescribes: everyone can choose representatives to rule the country according to their own intentions. What Mr. Xiaobo Liu did is totally in agreement with the natural rights of a Chinese citizen. He is sentenced illegally to 11 years in prison for his justice behaviors. The CCP controlled government bares the face to suppress “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights” openly and infringes the basic rights of Chinese people. China Democracy Party strongly condemns CCP’s illegal trial on the drafter of “Charter 08” Xiaobo Liu and urges the CCP controlled government to release the drafter of “Charter 08” Xiaobo Liu.
Mr. Jun Wang pointed out, after the 30 years’ of reformation and opening up of China; the economic development hasn’t changed the one-party dictatorship in China. Violence and lies are always the features of an autocratic government. No matter what means does the government take to say “democracy and freedom”, they are just lying. The so-called “steady” and “harmony” will only flash in the pan. Where is the hope of China? The key to finding the future of China is ending the one-party dictatorship and employing multi-party political system. China Democracy Party warns the CCP government once again: multi-party political system is the unique choice of China.
Many CDP members made speech in the rally. They all appeal for the government of China to ensure the speech freedom and human rights of Chinese people, criticized the illegal trial on the drafter of “Charter 08” Xiaobo Liu and urged CCP to release Xiaobo Liu incidentally.
