Lixia Qin: Avoid the “June 4” Event to Happen again
In the early morning of June 4, 1989, two decades ago, Chinese authorities bloodily overwhelmed the unprecedented China democratic movement in Beijing Tiananmen Square. Students and citizens paraded in the street and appealed for anti-corruption, anti-bureaucracy and reform, but what they had was the rushing of the tanks and the shooting of the guns. The dead and wounded were heavy and the spectacle was startling. Thousands of youth students and citizens were gun-shooted, arrested, sentenced or expelled.
“June 4” massacre has passed 20 years, but it left us the lifelong scar in the bottom of our heart. “June 4” massacre became the unavoidable historical problem of the social civilization. We should respect the overall historical facts of “June 4” event and should take responsible of letting common people to keep track of the truth of the “June 4” event.
It is essential for china to the reform of democracy, freedom, human rights and legal system. Hopefully Chinese people possess a modern and democratic society. Only doing this, we can avoid the “June 4” to happen again.
