Jinqiu Fu: We can see from the reporting of the Chinese Media concerning the Wenchuan Earthquake
On May 12, 2008, China suffered the 8.0 class of great earthquake. The earthquake resulted collapse of the thousands of houses and huge amounts of people lost lives. Some tragedies are disasters of god, also anthropogenic factor. Chinese Medias reported the situations of the earthquake, in the mean time, they also substantially reported on the Chinese leader who personally came to the earthquake stricken area.
As Chinese people, except for the situations of the earthquake, we only focus on the bitterness of the victims after the quake. Medias monitored the rescue of the quake, especially Chinese people questioned and quake and government reflected on it. Why so many schools collapsed and so many people suffered? How many jerry-built projects produced? Which kind of responsibility government should account for? However, people focused most are looking forward to the information of the official Medias, but they’ve never seen it.
Focusing on the jerry-built projects, Chinese government should find out the reasons. Except for the factors of quakes, it should thoroughly investigate the person liable, designers and constructors and explain to the families losing children.
