Bencheng Miao: Economy Development is better, but environmental protection is more important

Everyone who came to the United States has a common feeling that here we have fresh air, bright sunshine, green grass, thrive forest, clean water and safe food. Some people have questions. Is this the paradise? The answer is only one. It is because the government and people emphasize environmental protection for quite a long time.
In recent years, Chinese environmental pollution is much more serious. The air quality has frequently given the alert. The majority of the water resource has suffered pollution and the food safety lacks guarantee. All is because Chinese government has raised the economy construction is oriented with policy. It has emphasized on economy development while neglects environmental protection. Today’s China, one third of the city air has been seriously polluted. One fourth of people’s drinking water fails to reach the pure standard. Today, Chinese economy has developed and must begin to pay back.
If Chinese environmental pollution degree continues to remain the current speed, the environmental pollution will beyond the economy benefits. As a CDP member, I hereby alert that Chinese government should not only emphasize the economy construction but also protect environment.
