Hong Tian: Chinese People Must Have the Rights of Speech Freedom

The absence of speech freedom is the common feature of an autocratic society. The autocratic society of China has a lot of restrictions on the speeches of its people and deprives their rights of speech freedom. The Chinese government has the most strict and cruel control over mass media in the world. In today’s Chinese society, there’s no freedom to speak no matter on news or on internet. The people can get fined, even arrested by the government, just because they critic the government in public or complain the officials, which are considered by the government harmful to the social steady and solidarity.

Today’s China, though it has changed a lot at the aspect of economics, the speech freedom hasn’t improved much. There is no sign of a release of control over speech freedom. The people can’t enjoy the speech freedom and have no knowledge of the real process of an event. “Secret and trivial news” is the only accessible source for Chinese people to know the outside world. How important the rights of speech freedom are for the people who live in a country without speech freedom!
