Ye Wang: Chinese Society must Ameliorate Anti-Corruption System from Legal Perspective
王野(Ye Wang)
Among officials from all levels of Chinese government, many of them take advantage of the power in their hands to collect money and receive bribes, which result in their corruption, negligence and malfeasance. All these phenomena are not coincidence, but the output of an unenlightened social system in Chinese society. In the society of China today, cases of commercial bribery, infringement of people’s interests, mass incidents and severe accidents emerge continuously. Contemporarily, officials in government even reach their hands out to areas of construction, real estate, land administration, mineral exploitation and so on. Corruptive officials are everywhere throughout the country. Serious problems of corruption bring about the unfairness in Chinese society. Many ordinary people still live in poverty and some can’t keep warm and eat enough, not to mention cure diseases and send children to school.
Ordinary Chinese people merely have the wishes that their stomachs are full, their children are able to attend school and the olds can enjoy free medical care. In addition, government departments will serve the people sincerely, when officials keep modest and diligent. The last thing they want is to see government officials corrupt and squander the wealth from tax payers, when the majority of population still struggle for living.
The only way to resolve the grave situations of corruption in Chinese society is putting the power of government and its officials under the supervision of the people. An institution of supervision is a must. The legal independence must be confirmed so that corruption will be prohibited from legal perspective.
