Shaohau Pu: The Abuse of Power Causes Corruption Directly
普绍华(Shaohua Pu)
If a person only wastes his own money, we can only call him a spendthrift, but never a corrupt. The only result of his behavior is bankrupt or destitute. However, this situation is not commonly seen because most people will not squander their own property.
If a person wastes the wealth of the country, or abuses the power in his hands to seek his own money, this kind of behavior is called corruption. Therefore, we can know that corruption is not the evaluation of personal behavior, but a word to describe the abuse of government power which leads to the loss of people’s rights and the trample of social morality.
The deep rooted reason of corruption is the abuse of power, the power which lacks necessary supervision and restriction. A government with reasonable system won’t add many limitations to the speech and behavior of its people or disturb people’s daily life. On the contrary, it can guarantee the basic living needs of its people and confirm people’s basic human rights. If a government publishes an inappropriate ban, the corruptive officials will find another way to collect money. Problems of corruption increase and the sufferings of people deepen. Finally, income gap expanses at higher speed and the society face more and more unstable factors. To successfully eliminate corruption, the power of the government and its officials must be strictly controlled.
