Xingyue Ye: CCP’s Political Censorship on Internet is a Sign of Their Timidity
叶醒悦 (Xingyue Ye)
In the 21st century‘s age of information, the free flow and obtain of information is the common feature of all democratic and free society. However, under this trend of the times, China as a country having millions of internet users who will be a internet giant in the future goes against the trend. The nation is enlarging its control and censorship over internet to the limits never reached before. The “Google vs. China” happened recently is not a coincidence. It’s the contradictions between CCP’s ruthless censorship and the principles of transparency and freedom in IT industry, which accumulate for long and finally explode. After the incident came out, the CCP government officials take advantage of “International Accepted Rules” as their cover words. Their sayings are only signs of their timidity. Because CCP has so many things to cover and swipe that once the internet is completely open, it will face disastrous blow. CCP never dares to take the risk.
The key words filtrated by CCP includes “Tiananmen Incidence”, “Culture Revolution”, “Petitioners”, “Democratic People” and so on. All these are topics feared by CCP to bring up for discussion, due to its behaviors against human rights, democracy, freedom and legislation in dealing with these incidences. Cruel persecution on wisdom intellectuals in “Culture Revolution”, bloody massacre on democratic students in “Tiananmen Incidence”, ignorance and even punishment on “Petitioners”, trial over “Democratic People” using the crime of “Overturn the Nation”, what CCP did have no legal or moral supports but a trample over human rights, freedom, democracy and legislation. CCP never dares to face moral and conscientious trial by displaying their deeds before all. The only thing CCP government good at doing is try all means to cover, obliterate and distort the truth as a way to comfort the deeply rooted timidity and concerns.
The “Google Incidence” has successfully calls up Chinese people’s awareness of CCP’s unscrupulous control and infiltration of the internet. More and more Chinese will circumvent the giant “Invisible Great Wall” built up by CCP to receive forbidden information and see the true face of CCP. Not for long, the democratic trend inside China will go hand in hand with information flow on the internet to form an irresistible momentum. Consequently, the autocratic and tyrant political power CCP will be pushed onto the trial of history.
