Xingyue Ye: The Unfair Education in China is the Result of Officials’ Corruption

In recent years, the problems of education unfairness are becoming more and more serious. There exist significant differences between villages and cities, small towns and metropolis, city residents and peasants at aspects of tuition, enrollment scores and graduation distribution. Many ordinary people facing the high education cost for their children can only take it painfully. This abnormal situation is caused by the corruption of government officials, especially those in education department.

Higher levels of education departments invest more education funds into cities where more tax is collected. The poor areas without enough resources are ignored for long. The little amount of money distributed to rural areas even gets corrupted by local official to provide their personal enjoyments. In cities, financing fees and fees for rural children to study in schools in cities have become an important source of capital for many schools. Therefore, schools place excellent faculties and advanced facilities on students having more money. Students from ordinary family have no chance to be educated equally.

No matter which country, its future will be in danger if the people can’t receive their due education universally. A government really concerning its people should consider more about how to guarantee an equal chance of education for all people. It will distribute a large part of its income to education. Education can’t be market-oriented and profit-oriented. Never can it be the breeding ground for officials’ corruption. Once the education corruption keep on spreading, the destiny of this country will confront giant crisis.
