Daokui Chen: The Government of China Must Stop Violent Demolition

The demolition in some regions of China can be described as a history full of tears and blood. Especially in recent years, some local governments are using more and more violent and cruel means to administrate demolition. The arable lands in hands of peasants living villages are forcibly confiscated and houses belonged to city residents also rudely destructed. The conflicts between ordinary people and government caused by demolition are gradually escalating.

As government officials who speak days of “People if the Foremost” and “Service the People”, they connive some immoral estate businessmen to use inhumane ways violently kick people out of their homes. The deeds are implemented by hundreds of demolition workers in public and done ruthlessly. However, facing the tragic misfortune of some people whose lives are cruelly trampled by demolition, the government officials express no sympathy and mercy towards them under the temptation of great benefits from the demolition. Some officials even come out personally to administrate violent demolition.

The rights of Chinese people can’t be sacrificed due to the autocratic society. The demolition in many areas in China has severely damaged the life safety, residence rights and property rights of ordinary people. The Chinese government must stop its violent demolition immediately.
