Huanuan: Rule a Nation by Laws is the Sign of a Harmony Society

Government of China has always promoted the idea of establishing a harmony society. An important sign of harmony society is “Rule a Nation by Laws”. Founded on this base, people must have basic human rights. Ruling nation by laws is in close relation with guaranteeing human rights.

Chinese society has achieved a lot of success since the “Open Up and Reform” at aspects of economy construction and social development. However, Chinese government never truly rules the nation by laws. The legal system is not independent and lacks essential justice. Government officials have powers out of the control of laws. The corrupt for long by their privilege and persecute ordinary people. The basic human rights of people are infringed and lots of social contradictions emerge, which consequently lead to bad influence upon people.

Respecting human rights is the obligation and responsibility of a government. The bodies and lives of human beings, the rights and freedom are all the value of human rights. The government of China must cherish these values. This is the premise of building a “Harmony Society”. If these values are not respected, the human rights of people will be trampled. The society will be impossibly “ A Harmony Society”.
