Ling Chen: The Power of Government Must be Supervised by the People

In the society of China, the power in hands of officials is a kind of special products and is a privileged capital as well. This product and capital control the distribution of the nation’s resources and interests.

Officials in all levels of Chinese government distribute lands and resources to companies which have personnel relation or benefit link with them through the power in their hands. Peasants seldom get compensation when they lose their lands. These lands become s resource controlled by government officials. They can become wealthy overnight by making deals between power and money.

In some important industries, officials can decide the prices of all things because of the power granted by their position in government. They can then ask for unreasonable fees and earn large amounts of profits. As a result, they dare to corrupt openly and ruthlessly. AS a matter of fact, it’s a robbery over ordinary people. The power of government and officials belongs to the people, not owned by the government itself or a small group of people. Because any power comes from the people, the power must be supervised by the people unconditionally and always belongs to the people.
