Yang, Cheng: Opening Up Media and Speech Freedom is the Hope of Chinese society

Chinese society should open media freedom and speech freedom. The disadvantages in Chinese society must be exposed. The contradictions between officials and people, between the society and family must be truly and completely displayed. People can explore their life from a totally new view. Many people have the chance to wake up from the numb life before. Those who fall into the fantasy of higher “GDP” growth can be shocked and realize the fact. Officials have an opportunity to face the real life of ordinary people. All Chinese can learn the living conditions of people from the media in a democratic country. Seeing the true society and reality, people will start to wake up and reconsider the fundamental reasons for so many problems in Chinese society.

The media is a mirror to truthfully report the reality of Chinese society. This mirror reflects the corruption of system, the inability of officials and many other inconvenient truths. The Chinese government should not break the mirror and command the media and people’s talks to show a facial peace. The thing needs to be done is to open up media and speech freedom completely. By confronting the problems underling the society, the ridiculous problems in true life and the ugly society can be resolved. As a result a democracy reform can take place. Chinese people can have the hope to change their destinies and live a happy life.
