Jin Chenghao: Chinese Society Must Open Up Speech Freedom

Though the constitution of China has prescribed clearly: Chinese people have rights of speech freedom, this term only stays on paper and is never truly realized. The true situation here is that Chinese people lack speech freedom for long. People in contemporary Chinese society feel dangers always under CCP authority’s high pressure regime. Lesser people dare t say the truth. Government regards speech freedom a factor influencing social stability and solidarity. It even consider people’s speech freedom possible of affecting government’s “image” and damage government’s “authority” in people’s mind.

Nowadays, dissent voices on internet can’t be heard anymore. Speech freedom needs free environment. A free environment should have a democracy socials system as guarantee. Autocratic system is the fundamental reason why no speech freedom is allowed in Chinese society. Chinese government must obey people’s intentions and abolish bans on speech freedom as soon as possible, so it can give up autocracy and promote democracy reform.
