Zhang, Fenglian: Effective Punishment on Corruption is a Serious Legislation

Anti-corruption without a system and legal means will be really difficult. There are reasons from several aspects. Firstly, people have greedy nature and their desire is endless. This is the inner factor for people’s involvement in corruption. Secondly, inappropriate system such as the autocratic system in Chinese society makes power unrestricted. Officials have absolute power in hands. This is the outer factor. Thirdly, corruption will bring large benefits. Everyone wants to be corruptive. The only differences are how big is the chance and what condition we have? Somebody can take part in corruption, while someone have no conditions to corrupt.
Corruption has affected life of all Chinese people. Corruption phenomena have spread to all levels of Chinese society. In Chinese society, government serious oppresses corruption, but many people still corrupt and benefit from corruption, especially the government officials. Once they have power, they can’t avoid corruption and never stop. Therefore, corruptive people keep on emerging. After some arrested, more appear. Anti-corruption only leads to more corruption. Nowadays, corruption reaches out to all industries, all social classes and all corners of Chinese society.
If corruption can’t be eliminated, how can the nation be in peace? How can people live happily? Chinese government must make up its mind and implement democracy reform and do serious legislation. Without serious legislation, how can anti-corruption succeed?
