Wang, Baoqun: The Education Policy in China Must be reformed
王宝群(Wang, Baoqun)
Enjoying national obligatory education and receiving fair and reasonable education is the deserved rights of every educated people in Chinese society. However, disadvantages in China’s education policy, the discrepancies between urban and rural areas and the differed distribution of faculties, all these factors lead to the unfairness in education. In addition, officials in the government’s education departments don’t really understand education and never bare energy to study education. How can they be able to handle education issues? How can they know ways to allow more people receiving obligatory education? How well we deal with these problems is the key to problems of letting all Chinese people receive equal and reasonable education.
In making and administrating education policies, Chinese government amends the rules at one aspect, but sometimes becomes too impulsive. As a result, education policies are not coordinating to current education situation. The education resources are therefore wasted. In spite of this, government officials in education department take part in corruption and embezzle the limited education funds. Upper levels of officials become examples to lower levels. Officials are corruptive and faculties follow them as well. They never act as models to their students. On the contrary, they ask many kinds of fees from students at many made up names. Their hands reach out to students for money. Finally, students’ families have to suffer the increasing financial pressure on their shoulder, which add strong obstacle on China’s way to promote an equally attributed obligatory education.
The education policy making and the education system in China have so many problems. Chinese people hope to see healthy progress in the education career of China. They require a reform in the education system of China. Therefore, education department officials are hampered from being corruptive. The following generations can receive appropriate education. They will enjoy equal rights of obligatory education.
