Miao, Bencheng: Ameliorating Human Rights is Responsibility of Chinese Government
缪本成(Miao, Bencheng)
Chinese government claims to ameliorate human rights for long. Time has passed for years. Do human rights in China ameliorate? No. Chinese government still persecutes dissents, rights defenders and religionists. It continues to violently evict and send back petitioners and persecute China Democracy Party members. Chinese people have no basic human rights today.
Ameliorating human rights is a government’s responsibility. Chinese government must do this work well. Government must be elected by people, so do the officials. Only a government elected by government can respect and protect people’s human rights. Respecting and protecting human rights is the universal value of human beings. It fits the developing direction of democracy and freedom. Chinese government can start from several aspects to ameliorate human rights. Firstly, it must do practical actions, give up violence and stop persecution, so as to establish an environment respecting and protecting human rights. Secondly, it should promote democracy and political reform and allow people to elect and produce the government structure. People can choose officials they like and actually realize democracy and freedom system. Only by then can the human rights situation be truly ameliorated.
