Kong, Zhihao: China Needs an Environment with Speech Freedom

Chinese government always restricts people’s speech freedom, not allows people to freely express their opinions on media and forbids people’s negative speeches in public. If people dare to express negative speeches against government’s rules, the speeches will be found out and tracked the sources. Publisher of these speeches will be placed on a hat of disturbing social stability and solidarity if the situation is mediate. Some will be arrested and sentenced if the situation is serious. In this environment, there is no different voice in whole China.
Though there are rules of speech freedom in China’s constitution and it’s prescribed that people have rights of speech freedom, but these rules are never implemented to true actions. Problems of speech freedom in Chinese society must be solved. Firstly, speech freedom must have a basis. On this basis, environment of speech freedom can be ameliorated. Secondly, CCP’s one-party dictatorship directly leads to the lack of speech freedom in Chinese society. To have speech freedom, Chinese society should reform contemporary one-party dictatorship.
