Ma, Zijuan: Corruption is the Center Problem of Contemporary China

In all problems faced by contemporary China, corruption is the one having largest scale of influence, severe influence and urgent situation. This opinion is acknowledged by people in and out the party and nation.
However, regarding position of anti-corruption and its relation with economy development, people’s thoughts haven’t caught up with the time. Anti-corruption hasn’t become center of all work. It is not put at an important place. Instead, it gives its place to economy increase criteria or is restricted by excuse of affecting economy.
Corruption has deeply entered Chinese society.
After three decades of development and spread, corruption has entered all corners, all levels and all functioning part of Chinese society. At first, corruption grew in party and government departments. Afterwards, it spreads to departments of legislation, legal administration, education, academy and even military.
Meanwhile, corruption in business also appears which coordinates with political corruption and becomes more severe. It develops into contemporary situation that all parts of society can’t avoid its influence. City administration, fire force, profession institute and folk organization which have no much power also gradually corrupt. People who have no power before also get distributed interests through collusion with corruptive power. The organized gangsters are commonly seen. The job like “searching bodies” is also capable of power corruption!
Among all social problems in China, corruption is at the center place. To speak at deeper level, corruption is a product of old political system conflicting with the new market oriented economy. This is an obvious sign of contradictions. It’s the result of a long term lack of supervision and restriction. Corruption has caused endless harm to contemporary society. it’s fundamental causes of many problems and contradictions today.
Party’s administration ability, loss of national properties, income polarization, unbalance development and social justice and stability and all other problems have something to do with corruption.
