Gao, Yongping: China Needs An Environment With Speech Freedom

The 35th term in China’s Constitution has prescribed that Chinese people have the freedom of speech, press, organizing institute, demonstration and rally, which are to say that Chinese people can speak all they want and collect different thoughts. The fact is, Chinese people have no speech freedom. Though on the constitution there is a term saying people have speech freedom, it has never been truly administrated. This term stays on paper as mere words. Chinese people lack speech freedom for such a long time. Chinese government depraves people of their speech freedom. The responsibility of this lack of speech freedom lays on CCP government.
To find a way solving Chinese people’s speech freedom problem, the speech can never be truly open under contemporary autocratic system in China. Therefore only by promoting democracy and freedom reform can an environment of speech freedom be possible. The most effective way is opening up part ban in China and implementing multi-party political system. Speech freedom in China will get satisfactory conditions.
