Ding, Fugui: Speech Freedom Will Promote China to the Route of Civilization

Chinese government claims that people should have the rights to criticize the government’s administration ability as they want. They can judge the working achievements of government officials. However, government doesn’t allow much space for speech freedom to people. All people could only compliment the government. When problems come to officials’ probity and malfeasance, they can’t say anything.
Without speech freedom, Chinese people don’t dare to say much. Especially at public, most people will keep silence. Lesser and lesser people dare to speak out the truth. The autocratic system is the main reason for the lack of speech freedom in Chinese society. Opening up speech freedom will benefit the social progress of Chinese society and promote the social system reform in the society.
The first problem should be solved in China is that people should be guaranteed the rights to think independently, discuss freely and speak as they want. Only under conditions that Chinese people can know, analyze and think over problems such as social instability, government’s administration and behaviors of government officials, they can have mutual communication to discuss, argue and criticize all problems.
Chinese people’s thought freedom and speech freedom are the only way for Chinese society to have moral civilization and truths.
