Jiang, Wei: Chinese Government Must Open up Media Freedom.

The Chinese government strictly controls freedom of mass media and public opinions. No one can express opinions freely on either Internet or news media. Contents on Internet must be inspected and filtered. Contents to be published by news media must be censored step by step. Only after being approved can it be reported, which makes the majority of the public unable to enjoy freedom in news media freely.

Nowadays, the situation of Chinese government’s restriction on freedom of news media is deteriorating more and more severely. Even though China has achieved huge changes in economic development, there is no progress in freedom of news media, without any signal of release. In recent years, news regarding the public petition, protest and right maintenance activities is blocked by government. The public can not acknowledge truth of affairs. In order to change situation of freedom of news media, the Chinese government must cancel restriction order and open up freedom of news media completely.
