Xu,Xiaokang: China should not Allow Discrimination in Education

Imbalance of education resources in China, a country with huge population in the world, becomes a major problem in fair compulsory education. No other country’s education problem is as severe as China’s. In many areas short of education resources, channel of entering a higher school, which is relied on by children to change their life, is blocked by high education charge. Schools in cities also refuse to admit them. As a result, many children are facing deprivation of education.
Just and fair compulsory education institution is not only the beginning of personal fate but also a country’s prosperity. Nowadays, education reform in China is very difficult to implement, facing so much pressure. Such a condition has a close relationship with social system. If the situation that authority of government is not restrained does not change, education system does not change, and registered residence management system does not change, there will be unfairness on the starting point and in the process of receiving education between children in cities and those in the rural areas. We expect enthusiastically that there will be a day when there is no discrimination in education. Such a day is the hope of all children.
