20 years ago,on June 4, 1989 the Chinese government utilized army to repress the June 4, 1989 democratic movement incident via force. Thousands of students and civilians were killed by tanks and guns, which shocked the whole world as the June 4, 1989 tragedy. The Chinese government claimed that nobody died in it and only mobs were arrested. For 20 years, the Chinese government has downplayed the incident, aiming to make it disappear gradually in people’s memory.
Even though 20 years have passed, the Chinese government still refuses to bring democracy in and still tramples human rights more and more severely. Wealth polarization and corruption of the officials is more serious. The ordinary people’s life is becoming more difficult.
Today, on the anniversary of the June 4, 1989, we require the Chinese government to respect history, give justice, fairness and publicity to the June 4, 1989 movement, and make democracy and freedom happen in China as soon as possible.
