Wang, Jiashun: Chinese People are Most in Need of Freedom

People in western democracy countries have freedom of speech. Interaction between people is free. People can express their opinions freely. They can treat each other sincerely because they have no worry to tell the truth, which can protect credibility. If a person’s speech is repressed, they do not have freedom to speak freely. As a result, they do not dare to tell the truth. People tell lies to each other. Such a society is not a faithful one.

The Chinese public does not have freedom of speech. The government does not allow common people to have freedom of speech. When governmental officials bully the people or when they exchange power for money via embezzlement and corruption, the common people cannot express criticism because the government does not want to hear negative information. Government officials hope the public to praise them all the time. What can the Chinese public do? The common people can only tell lies against their will.

That the public in a country has freedom of speech is very important for increasing normal association among people and maintain social stability. The current Chinese government can promote the social civilization and progress in China only by really opening freedom of speech.
