Li, Yaping: The Chinese Government Must Fufill Its Promise of Improving Human Rights

The Chinese government often uses ethnic conflicts to establish its prestige. In recent years, due to tolerance of the government, ethnic conflicts happened in Tibet, Xinjiang, and Guizhou from time to time. In the process of suppressing them violently, the CCP government persecuted the right defenders by arresting and detain. Basic human rights of various ethnic groups were violated.

On March 2008, the CCP government sent military policemen to repress the Tibetan people who were in pursuit of freedom and human rights. On June in the same year, it once again sent military policemen to suppress the right defending people who protested against the government’s ignorance of people’s lives. On July 5, 2009, it arrested a lot of people in pursuit of right protection in Xinjiang. The facts indicate that the Chinese government has not fulfilled its promise of improving human rights to the international community.

In the past few years, China's human rights situation has not improved significantly. Many dissidents are still being detained. The government still strictly controls the media, networking, and information on public opinions. The Chinese public cannot make different sounds. If the Chinese government goes on ignoring the voice of the international society and refuses to take action to improve human rights conditions in China, the image of China in the international community will be greatly damaged. Therefore, the Chinese government must make efforts in improving human rights conditions and effectively fufill its promise of improving human rights conditions in China to the international society.
