The Chinese farmers lead an extremely arduous life. Nobody speaks for them and no one wants to protect them. Among all people living on the bottom of the Chinese society, those with the biggest difficulties are farmers. They are down-to-earth. They plough and sow laboriously from sunrise to sunset.Even though they work so hard every day, still they do not have enough food to eat and clothes to wear. At last, they have to pay for various taxes to the government and are discriminated everywhere. They are subject to unfair treatment regarding bank accounts, medical care, education and welfare.

The issue worries the Chinese farmers the most is inspection by governmental officials. Although they are not at high rank, they put on quite a show. They frequently go to the rural area to plunder wealth of farmers in the name of inspection. Farmers in some area say: “If the governmental officials come to rural area, chickens and ducks will suffer; the peasants are worried as long as the sound of the officials’ car is heard.” These officials add more pressure to crooked back of the farmers due to heavy burden.

The Chinese peasants must struggle for basic human rights and find an outlet for themselves. Outlet for the Chinese peasants lies in reasonable social system and good policies. The Chinese government should quickly formulate and pass relevant laws and policies to provide legal and institutional protection for basic benefit and land benefit of the farmers.
