Yu, Zhenhai: Really Promote Democratic Reform in China
于振海(Yu,Zhenhai)
More than 60 years ago, the CCP government advocated democracy and freedom when it struggled for sovereignty of China; after seizing the power, it has implemented totalitarian ruling. After the reform and opening up, it loudly talks about democracy and freedom on a big scale, trying to establish a democratic image on the international stage. Such a change makes many people believe it is a signal of the CCP authority to promote reform of democracy and freedom. In fact, it is a kind of unrealistic optimism. If the Communist regime really wants to carry out democratic reform, three conditions must be met.
The first, the CCP government should make a commitment to democracy, openly shows the Chinese people and the international community that it will accept political framework of democracy and freedom, and completely abandon the ambiguous expression of so-called "democratic socialism with Chinese characteristics".
The second, the CCP authority should allow the emergence of opposing party, implement democratic political system of multi-party ruling and make a specific timetable.
The third, it should give up violence and cease all political persecution; it should immediately release all detained dissidents, right defending activists and religious activists. It should not only say it but also actualize it, which is a reason for a government to oppose autocracy and support democracy.
