Tian, Bing: Attention Should Be Paid to Environmental Protection in Economic Development
田兵(Tian,Bing)
Since reform and opening up, the Chinese economy has developed rapidly. Miracles of the economic development not only make the Chinese people out of poverty, but also lay the foundation for a future economy. However, the Chinese government overlooked a very serious problem that overloaded economic growth was at the cost of industrial pollution and deterioration of the environment. Faced with this serious fact, the Chinese government believes that this is an inevitable process of economic development.Such an interpretation is not only not persuasive, but also irrational.
China is not a resource-rich region, particularly short of water resources. China has a serious shortage of water in arid areas. Statistics show that fresh water resource per capita is only a quarter of the world's average level, listed behind the world's top 100 places. Due to industrial pollution, indicators of national water pollution surpassed the normal level. This is due to important pillar industry in economic development.
Admittedly, economic effect of Chinese economy is significant today. But the deterioration of the environment has attracted more and more concerns of countries in the world. The faster the economic development, the more obvious is the environmental pollution problem. For the sake of economy the Chinese government ignores the environmental protection. In many places, industrial waste gas, waste water and waste residue were discharged into the natural environment without treatment, resulting in a vicious cycle of environmental pollution. Therefore, the Chinese government should pay attention to environmental protection in economic development.
