Chi, Jin: Let All Children Receive Good Education
迟瑾(Chi,Jin)
The China's education system needs reform. There are some aspects regarding solving existing problems regarding the current education system. The first, the establishment of monitoring mechanisms to prevent education officials and school administrators from embezzling and misappropriating limited education funds. The second, the establishment of relationship between the education administration department and misappropriation of limited education funds. The third, truly implement compulsory education for all children to receive education.
The current education system is lack of fairness and justice. Compared to children in rural areas, urban children have superior conditions. Schools in cities have good education facilities, quality teaching conditions and strong teacher resources. Even though children in city and children in rural area enjoy equal right in compulsory education, children in rural areas and less-developed regions are short of good conditions in compulsory education. In the distribution of funding for education, schools in rural area are not only unable to enjoy the preferential policies, but also have to experience discrimination from some government education officials. As a result of poverty and lack of funding for education in rural areas, some children in rural areas face the situation of dropping out of school.
The Chinese government needs to establish a people-centered and humanist educational value. It should increase transparency of allocation of funding for education, and prevent education corruption; at the mean time, it should adequately take care of schools at all levels in rural and underdeveloped area, and promote the balanced development of the compulsory education between the city and rural areas to let all children to receive good education.
