Zhang, Qing: Chinese Government Must Strengthen Food Safety

In many years, the food safety accidents in China have bothered people’s life a lot. Because of the frequent happening of food safety problems, the problems have caused more and more attention. Chinese society has a prevailing saying “People regard food as the heaven”. Seen from today, the premise for regarding food as heaven is to make food safety the priority, since it relates to the life and health of every person.
Every year in China, there is over half of the population contaminated by diseases related to food transmitting. The food poisoning accidents are increasing. According to statistics from the media, food safety accidents make up half of all quality incidents. The NO.25 terms of 1948 “World Human Rights Declaration”: “Everyone has the rights to enjoy the health of oneself and their family. The living standard must include food, clothes, necessary social service and guarantee”. All prove that food safety not only relate to people’s living rights and health rights, but also relates to people’s rights to known and rights to the environment.
Therefore, Chinese government must comply with the food safety rights designated by international human rights files and make up food safety terms. Food safety regulations need to be established. When continuously nourish the food market, it should also strengthen the safety of food.
