Huang, Baoqin: Chinese Government must lift the restriction on freedom of speech

Freedom of Speech is a basic right for every citizen, and it’s an indispensible condition for the existence and development of human beings. China’s Constitution regulates: the Chinese people have the freedom of speech rights. Nowadays, many people in different countries own the freedom of speech rights, every step of a country and a nation is closely related to freedom of speech. Especially at the age of internet, internet speech brings many new culture and new notions to the political field of Chinese society. Freedom of speech is endowed with new meanings on the internet.
However, the Chinese government has long ignored the regulation of “the Chinese people have the freedom of speech rights”, restricting people’s freedom of speech. The government also restricts freedom of speech on the internet. The Chinese government considers an open internet is not good for supervising the internet, thus blocks internet and filter contents on the internet, these government behaviors not only violate Chinese people’s freedom of speech, but also against the mission of “universal declaration of human rights”. Freedom of speech is men＇s natural right, therefore, Chinese government has to totally open freedom of speech and open the entire internet.
