Xie，Wenhong: The Congress Representatives in Chinese Government Never Speak for the People

The “People’s Congress” and “Political Committee” are held by Chinese government every year in March. During the time, all media under control of the government must report the two events at large scale. All Chinese people can only see and hear the dignity of conferences scenes and the sincere attitude of representatives.
During time of “People’s Congress” and “Political Committee”, journalists from all aspects interview and cast the conferences. Watching the solemn faces of the representatives before the cameras and listening to their seemingly genuine talks, it’s sp humorous and ironic. They say they are representing people of the nation, will speak for people and solve people’s concerns. Some so-called “representatives” even shamelessly claim to offer better policies for the government. All they say are merely vain words and applauding words to please the government, as if there are no problems of poverty, injustice, severe corruption and persecuted dissents and petitioners. The situation seems all show an optimistic view. As a matter of fact, these “representatives” are not elected by people that they will seldom consider the needs and speak for the people, Many Chinese will say: “It’s not our voice and we need to have our voice heard.
In a one-party dictated society of China, the speech freedom of people is depraved. Where is the place for people to speak out? Nowadays, country and people all relay on these so-called “representatives” to decide their future. Can they really understand the bitterness of ordinary people? Can they justify the unfairness and sufferings gone through by the people? Never! Because, the “representatives” are assigned by the government and will only stand for the one-party dictatorship of CCP, not the people.
