Huang,Jianbing: A worthwhile tour to Washington D.C.
黄剑冰(Huang,Jianbing)
Nov. 16, 2010 was a special day for me. I left the busy daily work, followed some of CDP members leaded by Chairman Wang,Jun to attend a collective activity of CDP in Washington D.C. The theme of the activity was : Strongly support Chinese people’s movements of appealing to the higher authorities for help and maintaining legal rights, strongly protest forced demolition and violent demolition and violation of human rights and rule of law, strongly protest Chinese government cruelly protest CDP members and appealers.
This activity arranged three gatherings in three locations, though time was tight, I learned a lot indeed.
Firstly, we went to the Capitol Hill, a place where American constitution and important laws are created. I have lived here for decades, and this is my first time here, I filled with respect for this solemn white building. We gathered in line orderly, held theme banners, listened Chairman Wang,Jun’s speech for “strongly support Chinese people’s movements of appealing to the higher authorities for help and maintaining legal rights”. During the activity, I saw passers-by stopped and took pictures of our activities, and thumbed up to us, I felt a sense of pride when my human rights are respected; if our mainland followers can have the same freedom like us to have freedom of assembly and association, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, and enjoy basic human rights granted by constitution, won’t it a lucky thing for Chinese people?
Afterwards, we went to the front of the White House, and initiated the second activity. When we held our banners, two police officers came to our leader, politely told us to follow rules regarding the time and number of people, I thought about those vulnerable groups who have unfair treatment in China, and those oppressed CDP members and appealers. In front of the White House, chairman Wang,Jun made a speech of “Strongly protest violation of human rights and rule of law by forced demolition and violent demolition. From the White House to the Capitol Hill, I seemed to see again the balance of the power of democratic society and rule of law, saw the power didn’t show authority under autocracy system, which made me determined to carry out democratic constitutionalism in China.
Finally we went to the front of China Embassy to hold our third gathering. If such gathering is held in China, we can imagine the consequence. Here Chairman Wang,Jun made a speech of “Strongly protest Chinese government persecute CDP members and appealers”, and conveyed to the Embassy that CDP requests CCP immediately stop persecution of CDP members and appealers, and carry out reform of democratic system in China.
Though it rained the whole day, when we had activities it would stop rain and rain again after the activity, we also hope the sunshine of democracy can shine in mainland China, and let the masses enjoy basic rights a citizen should enjoy.
A tight and meaningful tour bought new democratic elements to us. On our way back home, Chairman Wang,Jun gave members on the bus a vivid democratic lesson. Afterwards, we ended the tour with laughing. We truly gained a lot from this tour.
