Jiang,Pu: Political reform in China can’t count on CCP
姜璞(Jiang,Pu)
On Nov 16, 2010, it rained in the morning of the early winter. About 100 China Democracy Party members led by chairman Wang,Jun went to the sacred place of democracy-Washington D.C.
The first stop was the Capitol Hill. Standing in front of this white building I thought about the Great Hall of the People. The Capitol Hill is the place where the House and the Senate work. The house and the Senate have similar roles to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), with totally different results. Firstly U.S. is a multi-party democratic country, and congressmen are elected by voters, CPPCC Members in China are selected by the government, they have to be those who are CCP members or listen to the party. Though one or two dissidents maybe in the CPPCC, government has many ways to shut up cries of dissent. Therefore all proposals and votes at the National People's Congress and CPPCC are unanimously passed. The fact itself explains there is no dissidents existed in China. Can we hope the CCP change itself for such autocratic party? Secondly American congressmen all have specific work objectives, because they represent voters’ interests of his state, and such ideas have no meaning to Party Congress delegates. Many delegates serve several terms and don’t go to the CPPCC, some are even illiterate or semiliterate, and have no political attainments which is common is sports field. Hence, we CDP strongly require CCP to return the state power to civilians, letting Chinese people truly enjoy the right to participate in the administration and discussion of state affairs. So lifting the ban on political parties is the first step for the political reform in China. However, will such autocratic party bury itself?
The second stop was the White House. Here we urged the American government to focus on human rights conditions in China. Human rights are inborn and not granted by someone. In China it’s totally different. Human rights can’t be guaranteed, personal property can’t be protected, human dignity can’t be defended, in one word, all we have are given by the CCP, even our life. Zhao,Lianhai is an ordinary father who wants to get even for his child but is sentenced two and half years in prison. A literator who cries for basic rights as a Chinese citizen get 11 years in prison. Local officials go in for large-scale building for their performance and image projects, ruthlessly invade residents’ homes and wealth, making numerous people with no power on the appeal road, many families break up and are decimated, it’s like a living hell. Does CCP still have conscience? Will such government put people first? Can we rest out hopes on CCP?
Embassy of China in U.S. was the last stop of our democratic trip. Here we clearly demanded lifting the ban on political parties, allow different parties to exist legally, and realize rotation of political parties. Letting the party not in power truly supervise and press the direction and methods of the party in power, let people’s voices convey to leaders through different channels. However we all know CCP grows and thrives with violence, they strongly believe power grows from the barrel of the gun, CCP won’t leave the stage easily. But we CDP strongly believe that the democracy trend worldwide can’t be stopped by any decadent forces. Every CDP member is spark of fire and will kindle a great fire on Chinese soil.
A short one day democratic trip was ended with emotional slogans by everyone. “My dream” will be realized in China one day!
