Wang,Guan: Choosing a democratic system is hope for Chinese society

In recent years, the legal system, human rights conditions in Chinese society have very disconcerting phenomenon, many people who safeguard their legal rights, political dissidents, religious people, and CDP members are oppressed and persecuted. Chinese society has come to a cross road where an open, democratic, free, and rule of law society is a must.
Chinese people request to reform legally and politically to guarantee basic survival conditions and basic freedom and human rights of Chinese people. Though Chinese society has experienced development of market economy, popularization of the internet, international communication and development politically, forcefully propelled gradual open up of Chinese society, however, rule of law doesn’t replace rule of men, human rights conditions hasn’t improved.
From such trend one can see China today indeed faces a critical choice of whether to maintain the current autocracy, or embrace democracy, freedom and liberty, embrace basic human rights and rule of law. If China continues to develop toward the bad direction, more people will be oppressed, more people will be in jail, new cases of trembling human rights will happen, people will pay higher prices. Hence, China must develop towards democracy, freedom, human rights and rule of law. Only through these ways can human rights in China be improved fundamentally.
