Jiang,Pu: China’s democratic cause needs shines of warriors

Definition of warrior varies from men to men, some think rob the rich to feed the poor is warrior, because they help vulnerable groups, and punish those rich and cruel. Some think those broken in body but firm in spirit are warriors. Some think those who are not rich themselves still help the poor are warriors. Indeed, they are heroes. On the last day of Nov, 2010, I know another hero. A hero who fight for his dreams, destiny of the country, backbone of the nation-CDP member Qin,Yongmin.
Economic reform in China started in the eighties, and boomed in the nighties. China back then has spree for materials and money since people had been in poor for too long. Various methods were too much for the eye to see and some were never even heard of. Money was the priority and morality, responsibility, belief, power, obligation were all thrown overboard. Right under such social background, a hero appeared. He is not god, not a temporary impulse, not a wealthy official. He is a normal people with extraordinary dreams who have very little money to feed the family. He thought about rights of people, future of the country, and the nation-if the country is prosperous, will people enjoy fruits of their labor? If the country is rich, will people be happier and have more freedom? If the country is rich, will people enjoy more rights? If the country is rich, will extreme corruption appear? More worries impacted this common person. He with his colleges thought a plan-to establish a political party, establish a supervisory system to supervise the targets and methods of the party in power, to become a more efficient with spirit of dedication. So people can enjoy democracy, freedom, equality and prevent corruption. However, he faces an extremely corruptive party. To maintain the tyranny of CCP, CCP forced on Qin,Yongmin on 22 years in prison. His family are often harassed and his wife had to leave him with his son. Heros are human being, they also have drawbacks. The hero didn’t fall down inspite of weaknesses. Due to pressures from international society and cries for democracy, hero comes back to the crowd. But who can assure Qin,Yongmin won’t be arrested again and assure CCP won’t persecute dissidents? One thing is certain though, as long as China has similar heros under the control of CCP, similar persecutions will appear.
Qin,Yongmin is a hero who can’t be defeated! A common CDP member hereby show my respect for you, and hope you can take care of yourself for your dreams and your future. Let us strive for our dreams together!
