Chen,Baozhi: Why Chinese officials are so venal?
陈宝枝(Chen,Baozhi)
The reform and opening up has been conducted for several decades in China, impacted by market economy, which has huge benefit drives, changes of values, defects of social system, officials in Chinese government take advantage of their supreme power and sell positions, take bribes, and accumulate wealth by unfair means during appointment of officials and transfers, distribution of resources, project contracts and financial loans. These officials all become rich and most of them have cars, money and high ranks.
Officials in Chinese government have top brilliance, they use money of taxpayers without their content, have sightseeing in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, France, Britain, America, Italy, indulge in eating, drinking and pleasure-seeking.
Do Chinese people nowadays need such corrupt government? The answer is no. Chinese need an honest, efficient, and sympathetic government; need a government with powers controlled by law and the masses; need a government that is elected by voters and is democratic and free.
