Jin,Yizhu: Carrying out democracy and freedom can solve ethnic problems
金毅柱(Jin,Yizhu)
Ethnic group in China have 56, and according to categories by Chinese government, ethnic groups are all minority groups except Han ethnic, cultures and languages of ethnic groups are restricted, and from this pint, policies regarding ethnic issues are discriminative. To pursue cultural and religious freedom, and fight for human rights, ethnic groups in China have protests and demonstrations in minority concentrated areas. These activities are often oppressed by Chinese government, and even armed suppression.
The minority group problems nowadays are cultural and religious problems on the surface, but institutional problems in fact. If China is a country which has realized democracy and freedom, would ethnic groups still protest? The answer is no. Because under the democratic and free system, minority groups can be equally treated, have cultural and religious freedom, and have smooth moods.
Pursuit of freedom and human rights by ethnic groups don’t need to be solved through protests, minority groups should pursue a democratic China with Han ethnic. In a democratic country, different ethnics can solve conflicting problems through peaceful, equal, and rational methods.
