Xu,Wenqiang: China needs a democratic constitution which belongs to its people

Democratic China needs a democratic constitution because that’s the will of Chinese people. China’s constitution belongs to its people, generated by its people, and used for its people. The meaning of a democratic constitution is that Chinese people can live in democracy, Chinese people are free people. Besides laws regulated by Chinese people, Chinese people don’t accept any other rules.
A democratic China must abolish abuse of power, abolish rule by force, abolish privileges, and severely punish corruption. Officials and common people should establish common rule which is based on rationality, justice and seek common ground, it restricts all of us no matter common people or officials.
The constitution of democratic China is a promise of democracy and freedom for Chinese people. The promise is not granted, not inherited, not enforced. The constitution is based on democracy, freedom, human rights and rule of law.
