Chinese people have no freedom of speech. Although the Constitution says that Chinese people have freedom of speech, this freedom is strictly regulated by the authority. For example, criticism against government can’t be expressed; personal political opinions can’t be expressed on media; negative statements, defined by the government, can’t be expressed publicly or on media. Otherwise the government will arrest or even put in prison under the charge of subverting union and stability and damaging stability of society.

It is the Chinese government that doesn’t’t implement freedom of speech since it rarely keep its word; the freedom of speech give by Law means nothing to government officials. Only “positive” reports can be read on government-controlled media. Even the negative news that can’t be covered up, such as the poisonous food accident can be turned into a “good thing”. It seems like everywhere in China is in harmony. It is proved that there is no freedom of speech in China. China can only be developed when freedom of speech is fully implemented.
