Ma, Xing: I wish to see a democratic China while I still live
马兴(Ma,Xing)
I hope that democracy would be realized in China tomorrow and that a revolutionary event like the “Jasmine Operation” would break out and bring democracy to China overnight. However, the Chinese government put restrictions on freedom of news, and the internet is controlled due to monopoly and therefore information will be blocked. People can’t find out the truth. The realization of democracy only depends on word of mouth to promote the concept of democracy so that all Chinese know the rights they are entitled and those that are theirs.
Nobody wants to live a country where he/she can’t speak to the government, to get arrested by advising to the government, to be sent to a mental facility for speaking to government officials, or to be put under heavy charges for opposing governmental policies. Nobody wants to have the so-called political rights but have never voted or even have no idea how the leaders are selected. This is all because Chinese don’t know there are the basic rights they should have.
A country can only prosper when the people have their rights. If everybody can speak for the persecuted, the democrats and dissents, if news and comments can break through barriers and become free, if the number of people support democracy is more than that of people support dictatorship, I believe democracy will be realized soon, maybe even tomorrow.
